little big feet

We have had a wonderful spring with babies everywhere.

Puppy‘s baby was an unplanned addition. Daisy is a Paint/Belgian cross, cute but who knows what she will be good for.

She is not what we think

This is Mittens our new barn cat. Yes, the picture was taken in the house. I know, cats aren’t aloud in the house.

She has 7 toes on one fount foot and 6 on the other 3 feet. She is a polydactyl cat or mitten kitten.

She is also a HE. We now have a tom cat.

Beginnings

Ella and Red headed to the field today for the first official work day of the year. This is also Ella’s first time on the plow. She has really come a long way in a short time. We will plant ½ acre to garden again this year. Who knows how it will go. We have a lot to learn seeing this is our first year on this place. I thought I was figuring out the ground and weather at our old home just to start over. I guess that’s how it goes.

A little team

We were blessed with 2 little fillies this March. They are just as cute as can be and growing ever so fast. Joe named them Chloe and Dionne. I don’t mind the names but I worry that Dionne will end up Dee and the command Dee gee is not ideal. They are half sister so will see if they make a good matching team

Mower

Joe finished the mower and we took it to the Harley D. Troyer Draft Horse sale.

It turned out so nice I was a little sad to part with it.

A Winter Getaway

Katie and Phoebe will be spending the winter up Bear Creek enjoying a nice barn and running creek. Wish this was our place, I just love it.

We also got to see Bob. He got big! He just turned one this month and is looking like he will be bigger than any of us thought.

New house

We went to look at a new place this week. Joe will be working for himself now so the house we just finished building will no longer wok for us. The place we looked at has something like 900 acres with a pivot and a shop on it. We will have a lot more room for all the horses and Joe will work from the shop. That means more time at home together.

Taters

We finely got around to digging the taters. We had trouble seeing the rows but we enjoyed using the tater digger. We really needed more horses as the ground was so hard and dry but they did alright for no more than we had to do.
