Three-abreast Hitch

We got 7" of snow Sunday night so Joe has been home from work. Today was a beautiful day without wind and it got up to 23 with the sun shining. We played outside in the snow  with the horses most of the day. I couldn't have wished for a better time!

Today Joe hitched the girls up three-abreast and we went for a ride. He has done this before but this is the first time at home so I could see and take pictures. The girls did so good and they looked better then I thought they would. Molly is green broke and up until a few weeks ago you couldn't get her near the other horses with out her trying to kick or bite them so she has come a long way. She was a spoiled pet before we got her and lacked in social skills. We had a 4 month old colt who behaved better and spooked less then her but now other then being a little nervous from lack of experience she is a good girl.

Snow

I love snow. I love the way things look so clean. I love how they look special and magical. Any other day this would just be the horses standing in the yard but not today.

We call it school

We have been learning about houses, discussing the different styles over time and around the world. The book we are reading from has been getting a little dry this last week but I have been pushing on seeing we only have this week left and then we move on to food and eating habits through history. I was hoping to get them more interested in the houses, after all their Uncle Tim is an architect. Well, last evening they found a box and asked for tape to turn it into a a Viking long house. I was so excited about this. Today we have made Teepee's and Indians and started on a small castle. They also asked if this summer we can build a mud brick house! Wow, on Wednesday they were falling asleep as I was reading and today I have houses everywhere. The best part is we have learned a lot more about the people who lived in the homes by building them. We call this kind of day a great school day, some would call it playing with paper and boxes.

So big

She thinks she is so big on her horse but to me she is still so small. I'm glad Karlee is unafraid of riding but I wish she was still my little baby. We got the twins saddles on my birthday in CO. The first nice day we had to try one on. Hank is still waiting for a horse, every time were going to bring Mighty Mouse home something happens and we can't.
