Happy Birthday to me

Karlee made her first cake ever and it was for me! It was a pineapple orange cake with coconut whip cream frosting. She did a great job and had lots of fun.

Merry Christmas

My Christmas gift was unexpected but oh so wonderful. Sugar was due, I thought, the first week of February. What a surprise to find she had a baby this morning. He was still wet when we saw him, the sun not yet up, standing on shaky legs. We will call him Rudy, short for Rudolph. It was this or cookie, seeing his mom is Sugar, but Joe wasn't going for that.

Toby

Toby is a friends pony that loves to buck. He is also a little stud pony and must be kept away from the big girls who wish to kick his head in as a way of saying hi. Karlee has volunteered to put a few rides on him this winter and hopefully break him of his bucking problem. She might be a little girl but she has some spunk and is the only one who can stay on him. Oh, the boy who owns him is 9 and you can tell that a "girl" fixing his horse is a hard pill to swallow.

Pig nosed thing

Brody came running to the house to tell me that a pig nosed thing was in the shed growling at him. I was on the phone and told him to just hold on a minute. It sounded like one of those things Brody was making up just for fun. Then Karlee came in crying saying the same thing but adding, “I think it ate my cat!” I knew it must be something so I stared out the door and Brody said I better get a shovel. I grabbed the gun. Joe came home as we walked to the shed and so took over our little hunt.

I would seem that Brody was after the cat and thinking he had found him behind a stack of tires he stared over to get him out. When the thing stared to hiss at him and wrinkled up his cat face into something like a pig nose Brody jumped back and cried for his sister. Karlee sent him to the house for help and told Brody she would keep an eye on the thing until that help came. As she was standing guard the thought came to her that the cat was no were in sight and this thing looked fat. It must have eaten the cat! This was too much for Karlee and she ran to the house crying. Joe took care of the very mad badger but we are all going to call the cat to us from now on instead of pulling him out of dark places.
